Which way is national politics headed to?

The national politics must be brought back to the right track soonest so that we can once again concentrate on revitalizing the national economy, containing the threats of terrorism and tackling the issue of deteriorating administrative efficiency, among many others.

Expediency

Such expedient collaboration or alliance is not unknown, but for an opposition camp that upholds lofty aspirations and cherishes the ideals of democracy, teaming up with the wrong partner would only erode its political morality further.

The political future of the Malays

The by-elections in Kuala Kangsar and Sungai Besar are decisive battlegrounds for various Malay political forces: Umno, PAS, PKR to the more recent Amanah and Mahathir's movement. The more divisive the Malay society, the more people will look to Umno for guidance.

Proton and patriotism

Patriotism is something absolutely abstract that could never be translated into some realistic gains. It is totally impractical to tie the sale of Proton to patriotism alone.

Where's the shadow PM?

Without a shadow PM, the anti-Najib campaign will not strike a chord with the general public in particular the mainstream Malay society which prefers to sit on the fence and watch before jumping into action.

Mahathir's comments to topple PM may be seditious: Nur Jazlan

Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's statement to do things 'outside the box' to topple Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak can be considered seditious, says Home Deputy Minister Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed.

A few points to ponder

Will this country be a better place without Umno? Can Umno really bring about the changes? If yes, why no changes have been instituted so far? If we were to continue allowing Umno to decide the choice of prime minister, how can we be sure the old mistakes will not be repeated?

Mahathir files lawsuit demanding handover of billions to govt

Hundreds of millions of dollars that ended up in the personal bank accounts of Malaysia's prime minister must be handed to the government, a lawsuit filed by his predecessor demanded Wednesday.

Shortsightedness of politicians

While political fights can divert the public's attention from more pertinent issues, they can also derail our politicians' focus to revitalize the national economy such that they won't have time to think about people in the street struggling under tremendous economic pressure.

The tie-up formula

In the past the formation of Pakatan Rakyat was the result of the availability of the first condition with the remaining two in relative dearth. When the parties needed one another, they put their weapons behind them but when they savored the sweetness of power, they began to show their true colors.
