I never used the word 'haram': ustaz

  • Shahul Hamid says he never used the word "haram" on Muslims visiting non-Muslim hair salons or sending their children to Chinese schools.

PENANG, Oct 19 (MySinchew) -- Ustaz Shahul Hamid Seeni Muhammad said he never used the word "haram" on Muslims visiting non-Muslim hair salons or sending their children to Chinese schools, The Star reported.

"If you watch the video carefully, I only said that while there is no dalil prohibiting a man to hold the hair of another man, it is better to find a shop operated by Muslims to help them in the economy."

He said he had lodged a police report against an online portal accusing him of using the word "haram".

He said he had urged Muslims to patronize only Muslim hair salons as some of the products used in non-Muslim shops might not be suitable for Muslims.

Sahul argued that some people had taken advantage of the Muslims-only launderette issue to cook up an issue out of what he had said years ago.
